Gemscapes: Belle Epoque Gallery
La Belle Epoque was a wonderful time for jewellery! So many incredible innovations happened at this time as platinum was introduced for creating settings. This strong, silver-coloured metal, allowed for thin, almost invisible settings and set off diamonds beautifully. This created a trend for sparkly, silvery-white monochromatic pieces, very elegant.
Taking my cue from those glorious, shimmering tiaras and necklaces, I created the Belle Epoque line to play with simple designs set against a silvery, monochromatic background. I've enjoyed increasing the negative space in the pieces and plan to play with that more.
